Siesta Key Beaches

Siesta Key Beach

Siesta Key has three wonderful beaches on the Gulf of Mexico, where you can play, relax, or walk along the water's edge. Siesta Public Beach is renowned for its breath-taking sunsets, easy-going waves, and gorgeous, crystal-white sand. The sand is 99% pure quartz, soft and cool on the feet. Among the many awards it has earned are: the whitest and finest sand in the world (The Great International Beach Challenge, 1987) and The Best Sand Beach in America (The Travel Channel, 2004). Crescent Beach offers the same lush, white sands, azure waters, and stunning sunsets, but it is relatively secluded and quiet, as it has only one public access road. Located just south of Siesta Public Beach, the beach scene here tends to be more peaceful and private. At the southern tip of Siesta Key is Turtle Beach, which provides a sportier, family play beach experience. The beach has picnic areas, a playground, a volleyball court and horseshoe pit. There's also a boat launch, and fishing is permitted in the adjacent Blind Pass Lagoon. The sand on the beach tends to carry more shells, making it perfect for beach combers and shell collectors. Many find petrified sharks' teeth to take home and treasure

Siesta Key Shopping

Siesta Key Shopping

There are two shopping districts on Siesta Key, the north end and south end of the island: The Crescent Beach area, south of where Stickney Point Road connects to Midnight Pass Road, showcases boutiques shops comfortably mixed in with attractions and commercial businesses. Siesta Village north of the public beach is a mostly pedestrian village area ideal for People Watching. Here, as on the south end, stores, shops, and boutiques thrive in the midst of commercial and residential activities. You'll also find a drug store and post office in this village area.

Things To Do On Siesta Key

Siesta Key

As you can imagine, being a beach town Siesta Key has a wealth of things to do on or in the water or onshore. You can choose to go fishing on a charter boat, or rent your own boat and find a secret fishing spot right down the street by visiting C.B.'s Saltwater Outfitters. Some of the more adventurous rent kayaks and paddle the gulf and surrounding waterways, or strap in for a parasail ride high above. Why not rent a bicycle and pedal the shore? You can do all of this at Siesta Sports Rentals. Whatever you choose to do on Siesta Key, it can usually be done year round.
